Position: Associate Director of Development, New Roads School

Status: Full-time/exempt

Reports to: Director of Development

Description:

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Associate Director helps to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts ($5,000+) for the School’s annual and capital campaigns. The Associate Director also manages NRS’ foundations relations efforts and assists the Development Director in managing the development operations.

The Associate Director of Development works independently and also as a member of a Development team, and coordinates activities with the Director of Development, Head of School, volunteers and other New Roads representatives as identified.

Responsibilities:
• In collaboration with Head of School and Director of Development, identifies, qualifies, cultivates, stewards, solicits and recognizes major donors ($5,000+).
• Manages NRS foundation relations by researching, identifying, developing and responding to grant opportunities including preparing proposals and supervising grant consultants.
• Help manage development operations including, prospect management, gift processing and acknowledgements.
• Works collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other development and School staff, and other New Roads representatives to cultivate and solicit donors for School-wide priorities.
• Prepares reports for foundations and major donors.
• Work with Development team members to support their efforts with the Annual Fund, support groups and events.
• Assist with planning, coordination, and implementation of annual fundraising events and other Development fundraising activities.
• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

The qualified candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ relevant fundraising experience, preferably at an independent school or in higher education. Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts. This position requires proven communication and interpersonal skills, including donor relations and stewardship; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required); the ability to organize and manage multiple projects, delegate and accomplish goals with volunteers and fellow staff, as well as to work collaboratively in a team environment. Flexibility and a willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends are required.
