Grant Panelists for LA DCA

4:11 pm in Professional Development by Tara Aesquivel

Being a grant panelist is a great way to learn about writing successful grants!

Call for Grants Panelists at Los Angeles DCA

CALL FOR GRANT APPLICATION REVIEW PANELISTS

Each year, the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) convenes 12-15 groups of experts and community members to review, compare, and score proposals for public funding of arts and cultural activities that will benefit Los Angeles residents and tourists. Panels can include artists, arts adminsitrators, educators, art enthusiasts and other community voices. These review teams change every Fall, so DCA is always looking for 60-90 new jurors. We select our panel participants from submitted questionnaires and resumes (after the pool of submitted resumes is screened for conflicts of interest).

If you are interested in this opportunity, please send an email to dca.grants@lacity.org with the subject line POTENTIAL PANELIST and attach your resume.

In return the DCA grant staff will send you a quick questionnaire that will help us match your expertise to our various categories of review: Artist Residencies in Social Service Settings, Arts Education (in school K-12 Learning), Arts Enterprise Incubation, Dance, Culture/History, International Exchange, Literary Arts, Master Artist Fellowships, Media Arts, Mixed Genres, Music, Outdoor Festivals, Traditional/Folk Arts, Theater, and Visual/Design Arts.

DCA offers a honoraria of $100-$500 per panelists based on amount of review time required for each set of applications. Panelists should expect to commit approximately 30 hours of time to the task, including time to read and score applications on their own time and at least one full business day for the grant panel meeting.

Please feel free to distribute this message to colleagues and others that you think would be interested in serving. Thank you.
