Notes from Kate McCormick, Senior Data Analyst and Supervisor, hired August 1, 2007:
“The home office set‐up allows tremendous flexibility but also requires a significant amount of self‐discipline: not only is there always something to act as a distraction (housework, TV, etc.), but it is also surprisingly easy to work too much. Working from home is as much about imposing limits as it is about meeting deadlines. Creating a separate ‘office’ is essential to maintaining the division between work and personal life. Strong communication skills are a must, both in terms of being willing and able to ask for help and also to use phone and email instead of face‐to‐face contact.”
