Part I:
Thursday, October 16, 2014
7 – 9:30pm
The series launches with an opening mixer and a focus on Civic Impact, with special Keynote Speaker Zipporah Lax Yamamoto, California Director of Turnaround Arts Initiative.  Gerlie Collado from the James Irvine Foundation and Erin Harkey from the Los Angeles Arts Commission are our featured speakers.  It all takes place at Venice Arts on 1702 Lincoln Blvd. in Venice, CA.

Part II:
Thursday, October 23, 2014
7 – 9pm
The second installment of Creative Conversations is the workshop “How We Know: Evaluation for Learning,” focusing on the mid-level or organizational impact.  The night’s Keynote Speaker is Kamella Tate, Director of Research & Evaluation at The Music Center.  This event takes place in Downtown L.A. at Mercado La Paloma at 3655 S. Grand Street.

Part III:
Thursday, October 30th
7pm – 9pm
The series ends with a closing mixer and a discussion on the impact of grassroot artists and organizations in our own community.  What are the indicators of an “arts healthy” city?  We will discuss this important issue and more with speakers Joy Feuer of Arts from the Ashes, Laura Karlin from Invertigo Dance Theatre, Camille Ameen from Inside Out Community Arts, and Henreitte Brouwers from LAPD (Los Angeles Poverty Department).  We close the series at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena at 145 N. Raymond Ave.

About Creative Conversations

EAL/LA celebrates  arts and culture by hosting Creative Conversations events. Creative Conversations were established in 2004 by – and held in tandem with Americans for the Arts in observation of National Arts & Humanities Month (October). EAL/LA’s yearly events proved so popular that, in 2012, a second Creative Conversation was added to its permanent program calendar.

Creative Conversations are part of a nationwide effort to elevate the profile of the the Arts through local gatherings of arts leaders in communities across the country. Each year, networks choose a topic of particular relevancy and/or interest to their local arts community to address, either through speakers, workshops, or round-table discussions. The organization of these events varies from city to city, but the intent remains consistent: to galvanize local and national support for the arts. EAL/LA has a rich history of Creative Conversations, and its October Creative Conversation is the organization’s most highly attended event each year.
